USES
Prilosec OTC
® should be used to treat frequent heartburn (occurs two or more days a week).
Prilosec OTC is an omeprazole delayed-release tablet used to reduce acid. Prilosec OTC® is different from other nonprescription heartburn medication. It targets acid production by shutting down active acid pumps, and it works for up to 24 hours with one pill per day. This means you can get heartburn relief day and night. No other over-the-counter heartburn medication works like that.
Prilosec OTC® is not intended for immediate relief of heartburn. Most patients have some benefit after the first dose, with increasing efficacy over the first four days. This high effect is sustained throughout the 14-day treatment.
