FDA Approval Update

The FDA has approved the prescription strength (20 mg) of famotidine for OTC use. It will be labeled as Maximum Strength Pepcid AC® and is approved for treating heartburn associated with acid indigestion and sour stomach. Also in late November, the FDA approved a new indication for the non-sedating antihistamine, loratadine. It is now approved for hives in children 6 years of age and older.
