Update on Implementing FDA OTC Labeling Guidelines NewsRx.com (11/13/03)

Researchers at the University of Texas found that some manufacturers have already implemented the new FDA guidelines for labeling of OTC medications. The FDA published new guidelines for an easier to read, standardized format of labeling in March 1999. Although researchers found that the guidelines have not been fully implemented by all manufacturers, adherence is not required for a few more years. The researchers encourage early implementation to benefit consumers.
