Cervarix Approval; New Gardasil Indication
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Cervarix, a new vaccine to prevent cervical cancer and precancerous lesions caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) types 16 and 18. The vaccine is approved for use in girls and women 10 years to 25 years of age.

The FDA also has approved use of the vaccine Gardasil for the prevention of genital warts (condyloma acuminata) due to HPV types 6 and 11 in boys and men 9 years to 26 years of age. Gardasil already is approved for use in girls and women 9 years to 26 years of age for the prevention of cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancer caused by HPV types 16 and 18; precancerous lesions caused by types 6, 11, 16, and 18; and genital warts caused by types 6 and 11.

AlcoHAWK One Test
Q3 Innovations, LLC, has introduced the AlcoHAWK One Test, a compact, single-use, disposable breath alcohol tester. Users blow into the breath sample collection end of the device; a color change inside the tube indicates whether the breath sample exceeds a selected blood alcohol concentration threshold.
